Openness  ·  Empathy  ·  Professionalism

The warmth I offer stems from a compassion I feel for others. In providing a safe space where individuals can feel heard and respected, I believe powerful growth can occur. Our work together will be at your pace, meeting your needs.

Often, people hold the belief that there is ‘something wrong with them’, when it is often that there is ‘something wrong for them’.

Having witnessed growth and change in many individuals I have worked with I hold the belief that the person-centred approach, which forms the core of my practice, can facilitate new and lasting empowerment.

Whilst the humanistic approach forms the foundation of my practice, I am able to integrate other theoretical approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Existential and Pluralistic Therapies. I have been a practising Counsellor for over 10 years and worked within the NHS for over 21 years.

As a supervisor my approach is facilitative and explorative to support the development of counsellor's inner-supervisor in addition to their work in practice. For student therapists; establishing and continued development of their practice.

I have volunteered and worked with the charity, 'Counselling for Social Change' and remain involved with the organisation as a trustee and have been a trustee with 'Hope For Harm' which is a Cornwall based organisation offering support to individuals who experience self-harm.

I have experience of working with the Occupational Health Department of local NHS trusts, supporting their employees who need support on a professional and/or personal level. I also have experience of working with Victim Support (Homicide), working with people who have witnessed homicide or have experience of personal loss through homicide. Other professional development I have undertaken includes the ASIST training, Dyslexia awareness, HIV awareness and with Clear (formerly CRASAC - Cornwall Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre).

In my own life I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I enjoy the outdoors, am an enthusiastic cook and keen traveller.
