This qualification is for people beginning professional counsellor training and those who want to learn counselling skills to use in professional and personal roles and relationships.
For those with a qualification in counselling who want to prepare for work as a professional counsellor by learning more about counselling theory, ethics and emotional health.
This two year part-time qualification gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context in both health care and non-medical settings.

Our course is designed to help you gain the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to take the next step in training to become a counsellor.
This course is ideal for those who already have a recognised qualification in counselling skills, such as our Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills. This pre-practitioner training could lead to professional counselling qualifications or to employment in a related field.
Taught by practitioners from Lifetime Therapy in Cornwall, our sessions take place online on Wednesdays from 0930-1500. As in all our work, our intention is to support you as you develop and thrive as a counsellor and person.
This two-year part-time qualification gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context in both health care and non-medical settings.
Successful completion of this course means that the candidates will be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service - initially within the context of an agency’s service framework but later (with experience and support from the supervisor, or by completing PC-L5 or its equivalent) they may progress to independent practice.

Our course is designed to help you gain employment as a counsellor in an organisational setting or as an independent practitioner. Our experienced tutors provide you with the foundations of CBT skills and theory. CBT is one of the NICE recommended psychological therapies and counsellors with CBT skills are often favoured above those without in multidisciplinary psychological therapy teams especially the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) teams.

This qualification is regulated and awarded by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and is designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to provide clinical supervision for counselling practitioners.
The qualification is designed to lead to an employed or voluntary role as a clinical counselling supervisor in a counselling agency or in independent practice. Supervision is an on-going professional requirement for all practising counsellors and those with a recognised qualification are more likely to find employment.

The theoretical orientation of the qualification is Pluralistic (Cooper & McCleod, 2007), which is a collaborative, integrative perspective, deeply rooted in Humanistic and Person-centred values. Its fundamental premise is that each client is unique, and therefore may need different things from therapy. This same concept can be applied to the supervisory relationship and allows for a responsive and fluid approach to supervisee needs.
